NEWS of more road works being planned around the Swindon borough did not go down well with Adver readers.

The latest batch of public notices included news of highway improvement work in Blunsdon, a new water main being installed between that area and Highworth, a fibre network installation in Rodbourne, and other works.

Roads and footpaths around the town will be closed while this work is being carried out throughout parts of July and August.

This comes at a time when much of the town's main highways are already undergoing major reconstruction or renovation work which has led to months of diversions and delays for motorists.

Theresa Rogan: "Just what Swindon needs, more roadworks."

Jane Gallo: "May as well dig the whole of Swindon up."

Shaun Spackman: "They are! Starting on the surrounding villages now."

Chris Page: "What a joke, finish one lot before you start any more surely to God.

"Who's making all these decisions? It's quicker to drive to London than across Swindon."

Laura Tawn: "At the very least, finish what you started.

"Why is no one listening to the hundreds of comments andcomplaints every week about White Hart, the Moonrakers and Mead Way?

"Come on! Sort it out, get it done!"

Neil Hoskins: "There are road works on the Swindon to Highworth road, hope that's finished first."

Zoe Angela: "Beginning to wish my work was walkable, I’d happily get rid of my car!

"Swindon is such a nightmare to go anywhere anymore."

Jenna Palmer: "So expect it to still be taking place come December."

Ron Gray: "At least they are doing two together, that makes a change."

Debbie Curtis: "Gosh, A419 was the only way without road works."

Ally Ward: "Absolutely pathetic. Every other corner has a temporary traffic light. You can’t get anywhere in this town without waiting ages. It’s a joke.

"The council and decision makers are totally clueless to green light so much construction and roadworks all at the same time.

"Swindon right now is a terrible place to live. Yeah, faster broadband but at the expense of slow movement around our town."

Jill Pearce: "Best get the Christmas shopping started folks!"

Paul Bowerbank: "Great idea, send more traffic onto the A361 where there are already roadworks into Highworth."

Pete Lango: "They should finish the ones that’s taking forever first, i.e Mead Way."

Rhys Watson: "Just finish the roadworks you're already doing. Swindon is nightmare as it is with current roadworks."

Peter Eagles: "More roadworks? You mean there might be a single road you haven't pulled up recently?"

John Harrison: "One day there'll be signs saying Road Open."

Monika Bascombe: "Soon you wont be able to leave Highworth at all."

Darren Smythe: "Giving out permits to work left right and centre, without a thought of the impact of ongoing roadworks (roadblocks) around the town."

Ray Ross: "Swindon is joke, roadworks everywhere and never done on time."
