THIS is the aftermath of a large fire which scorched a Cricklade meadow.
Crews from Stratton and Swindon fire stations raced to Hallsfield Meadow after being called at 2.10pm on Monday.
The fire was extinguished using four hose reels, a light portable pump and beaters. The water carrier from Ramsbury Fire Station was mobilised but then not required.
A neighbour said: "Luckily the power lines didn't burn down or it could have been much more serious. The smell of charred grass is awful."
Watch: Stratton firefighters at the scene.
Greens and the On-Call were mobilised to #Cricklade alongside Swindon. Large wild fire in north meadow successfully extinguished using water from the Thames. Planning a re-inspection later so please avoid the area. #KeepingCrickladeSafe pic.twitter.com/3UyvWgWJJK
