Swindon council waste teams have been affected by the latest surge in track and trace alerts. Due to staff having to self-isolate, the council has made changes to recycling bin collections.

From July 19 all households across Swindon have moved to a temporary four weekly recycling box collection.

Swindonians will have to keep their recycling for almost a whole month before it will be collected.

What type of waste will be collected monthly?

The changes affect only recycling collection - this means paper, cardboard, tins and glass will be collected every four weeks.

All other waste collections remain unchanged.

When should I put my recycling bin out?

If your recycling collection is due the week commencing July 19, you should put your recycling boxes out as normal.

If your recycling is collected, your next collection will take place in four weeks’ time (week commencing August 16).

However, if your recycling is not collected within 24 hours, you should bring it back in and put it back out in two week’s time (week commencing August 2).

If your recycling collection is due the week commencing July 26, you should put your recycling boxes out as normal then. If it is collected, your next collection will take place the week commencing August 23.

If your recycling is not collected within 24 hours, then your next collection day will be on the week commencing August 9.

The council has indicated that this new revised schedule will be under constant review and it will return to their normal service as soon as possible.
