THIS picture shows the aftermath of a house fire in Walcot.
A fire broke out in the back bedroom of a house on Albany Close at around 7pm yesterday.
Part of the wall was blackened by the fire.
Firefighters used four breathing apparatus, two hose reels, one main jet, a 10.5m ladder, and a thermal image camera to ensure the fire had not spread to neighbouring properties.
A neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, told the Adver: “There was smoke coming out of the back bedroom. And within minutes there were flames. Yes, that was scary.
“They were shouting to get all the neighbours out.”
Two fire engines from Swindon Fire Station and Stratton Saint Margaret Fire Station attended the scene.
A spokeswoman from Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service told the Adver: "Two fire engines attended with an aerial appliance. No information on any casualties.”
