Panattoni says it wants the new 'Panattoni Park' – as it is calling the Honda site – to be green in two ways.
It wants the new buildings it will constrict to be low carbon and energy efficient.
The company’s proposal document says: “The project is putting in place a strategy to target carbon zero across the entire site prior to its completion. This sets the highest standards for sustainable development and building on a site of this size in the UK.”
The company’s plans say electricity-generating solar panels will be fitted to all buildings and 'state of the art heating and cooling technology will be provided in office areas'.
Buildings will be designed and constructed to be given an A+ energy performance certificate rating
.
The developer wants to improve the site for nature as well, removing non-native planting to allow native trees to flourish, creating tree-lined boulevards and planting new hedgerows of native species.
Panattoni wants to open culverted watercourses to provide landscape features and a wetland for wildlife and to handle rainwater, reducing the flood risk further downstream on South Marston Brook.
