A NEW Starbucks Coffee shop has opened at the Orbital Shopping Park.

The new branch set up off Thamesdown Drive comes with a drive-thru option and has created 14 new jobs after the company hired staff to manage the cafe and serve coffee lovers.

The first customers came through the newly-opened doors on Friday and site had a busy first weekend.

Its opening hours are 6am to 10pm on weekdays, 7am to 10pm on Saturdays, and 8am to 10pm on Sundays.

Customers and Adver readers were thrilled about the latest addition to the shopping park, with many telling their friends about the news and already planning a trip or two in the near future.

Tina Mottram said: “I am so pleased we have a Starbucks back over at Orbital.

Jessica Dent added: “Looks amazing.”

Wendy Cromwell said: “Tried it today, the seating outside is a bonus.”

Leila Morvillo said: “Amazing, Orbital is great already .”

Not everyone was keen on the idea, though, and suggested that there were enough coffee shops in Swindon now.

Others suggested different cafes and restaurants they would like to see opening in the centre instead.

Sammi Kerrigan said: “There’s already two Costas over there, plus McDonalds and the Asda cafe.
“I love coffee but it’s getting a bit silly now.”

Garry Eddolls said: “Whoopee another coffee shop.”

Richard Toomey added: “We need a Subway and KFC over at the Orbital. That would save going to the other side of Swindon to get one instead.”

This is the fourth Starbucks in Swindon, joining existing coffee shops in the Designer Outlet, Shaw Ridge, and Barnfield Close.

The town centre branch closed in 2019 and the space is yet to be filled.
