A CRASH on the M4 near Swindon has closed two lanes westbound.

Traffic is very slow on the motorway between Junctions 16 and 17 after the accident, which happened at around 3.45pm.

Traffic is slowing in the opposite direction as well due to people looking at the accident.

One of the two shut lanes reopened at around 4.10pm.

The motorway fully reopened at around 4.40pm.

A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: "Shortly after 3pm today, we responded to a single-vehicle road traffic collision on the M4 between junction 16 and 17 along with the fire and ambulance service.

"As a result of the collision, the vehicle, a Ford Fiesta, caught fire. Only minor injuries to the driver have been reported.

"One lane was closed while the vehicle awaited recovery."
