The number of coronavirus cases in Swindon increased by 58 in the last 24 hours and one more death was recorded.

A total of 20,616 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 in Swindon when the UK coronavirus daily dashboard was updated on September 16,, up from 20,558 on Wednesday.

Across the UK, the number of recorded cases increased by 26,326 over the period, to 7,339,009.

There was one more coronavirus death recorded in the latest 24-hour period in Swindon.

The dashboard shows 282 people had died in the area by yesterday – up from 281 on Wednesday.

It means there have been four deaths in the past week, which is an increase on two the previous week. They were among 7,240 deaths recorded across the south west.

The figures show that three-quarters of people in Swindon have received two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine.

So far,152,758 people had received both jabs by September 15 - 77 per cent of those aged 16 and over, based on the number of people on the National Immunisation Management Service database.

Across England, 81 per cent of people aged 16 and above had received a second dose of the jab.
