TWO teenagers have been arrested after yesterday's disorder in Walcot that left a man in hospital with serious hand injury.

Officers raced to the scene of the affray, which started in Queens Drive and continued into the Buckhurst Field area.

They cordoned off two sections of Buckhurst Field near Chickerell Road for much of the afternoon.

There were five police cars, a police van and a forensic investigation van parked at the scene.

During the incident, which happened at around 11.15am yesterday, a 20-year-old man sustained serious injuries.

Police said the victim is still receiving hospital treatment and is in a stable condition.

Chief inspector Nick Mawson said: “We would like to thank members of the public for their cooperation and for providing information to assist our investigation. The incident took place during the middle of the day in a busy public area and I’m sure would have been upsetting for anyone who witnessed it.

“I would like to assure the public that there is no wider threat from this specific incident. There will be an increased police presence in the area for reassurance.

“We would appeal for anyone who has recorded footage to please refrain from sharing this on social media but to instead forward this to investigators as this could provide valuable evidence.”

Anyone with information should call 101.
