PEOPLE looking to set up their own business can pop into The Rat Trap for a special session full of advice and information.

The award-winning Outset programme delivered by YTKO works with the Swindon and Wiltshire Growth Hub to provide free support to people starting and growing their own ventures.

A two-hour session at the Highworth Road pub will be held on October 7 from 11am for people to network, meet with Outset adivosrs and talk through their ideas.

Any budding entrepreneur can come along, though there is a particular focus on those affected by the closure of the Honda plant.

A spokesman said: " We think it’s crucial for the economy that the skills and experience gained through working at Honda are are gainfully used in creating a vibrant economy of successful local businesses.

"When you look at people who have started and are running their own business, the one thing that is common is that it’s hard work.

"But if you don’t do it right, it’s hard work, it’s stressful, it’s isolating, it’s lonely, it’s frustrating and after a year or two you’ll probably be looking to go and get a job working for someone else.

"If you do do it right, it’s hard work, it’s exciting, it’s fulfilling, it’s liberating, and you’ll never want to work for anyone else ever again.

"What we do at Outset is we make the difference so that people do it right. We offer this support to anyone in Swindon and Wiltshire, whether they are at the early stages of planning their business, or have already started trading, and we have a range of support options that are appropriate for all stages of the business lifecycle."
