MAJOR resurfacing work to improve the surface of a Rodbourne street and roundabout has begun.
Temporary road closures are in place this week from 8am to 6pm each day between St Mary’s roundabout and the bend where Cheney Manor Road meets Vicarage Road while this work is being carried out.
The next phase will involve patching and resurfacing on Vicarage Road and St Mary’s Roundabout with another temporary road closure in place.
Road closure signs will be placed on the approach roads to St Mary’s roundabout with traffic diverted through Cheney Manor industrial estate and Moredon Road.
Traffic will be unable to access the junction from Beech Avenue. Diversion signs will be in place and access will be maintained for local residents who live in the area.
Progress on both phases is dependent on the condition of the road sub base and weather conditions.
It is hoped this work will extend the life of the busy roads.
A Swindon Borough Council spokesman thanked motorists for their patience.
