A WOMAN who lives near the Gorse Hill field cordoned off by police has spoken of her shock at the fatal stabbing of a 33-year-old man.
UPDATE: Murder investigation launched
The witness, who did not wish to give her name, told the Adver: "This is terrifying, it's shocking. I hope we can find out what happened soon to know if we are safe.
"I've lived here for seven years and nothing quite like this has happened before. I could see it from my building and I didn't realise the severity of the situation until the helicopter landed and I could hear the police and medics.
"All the entrances to the field were blocked, the helicopter didn't take the man away and the police backed off.
"My thoughts are with the man's family and friends."
Police were called to a field known as The Venny off May Close and Pinehurst Road at around 2.40pm today. They cordoned off the entrances and set up a white tent for forensic investigation.
