A MURDER investigation is still underway after a 33-year-old man was stabbed to death in a Gorse Hill field.

Here’s everything you need to know.

What happened?

The incident happened in a field off May Close at around 2.15pm on October 10. Officers were called to the scene at 2.40pm.

The 33-year-old victim was assaulted and died at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

Investigation

All entrances to the field were cordoned off. Police cars and crime scene investigation vans parked up at a cul-de-sac off May Close.

A large white tent was set up by forensic teams while investigators examined the area. Later in the afternoon, police opened a murder enquiry with the Major Crime investigation.

Wiltshire Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward and anyone with information should call 101.

‘Tragic incident’

Superintendent Phil Staynings of Wiltshire Police described the incident as a ‘tragic incident’.

He said yesterday: “Our initial thoughts are with the victim’s friends and family at this awful time.

“I want to reassure everyone living in the local area that we are treating this as a major investigation and Wiltshire Police are working tirelessly and at pace to ensure those responsible are brought to justice.”
