Members of the public who want to be able to keep tabs on what the borough council is up to will be able to do so from their living room from the new year.
But initially only when the full council is sitting.
Swindon Borough Council's cabinet has recommended to councillors a report suggesting that full council meetings in the chamber are broadcast online to allow people to watch from home.
It said the experience of the pandemic, when meetings were held for a year online only showed there was a desire for people to tune in and watch.
One meeting, a scrutiny committee investigation into how the Oasis centre came to be closed had more than 1,200 people log-in to pay attention.
One cabinet member, Mary Martin said:This will allow people to engage without having to sit in the world's most uncomfortable seats for three hours for the half-hour they're interested in.
The recommendation still has to be ratified by full council. As it came from a motion with unanimous support it seems likely to be approved.
