The SN5 area of Swindon has been named as the third worst in the UK for car thefts.

The top 10 postcodes in the country for car thefts were recently identified after a Freedom of Information request was submitted to the DVLA, the Mirror reports.

It says the top two areas for car theft numbers between January 1 and December 31, 2020 were LE2 in Leicester with 342 instances of theft recorded by the police and noted by the DVLA and SL1 in Slough with 285 instances of theft

The West Swindon area was third worst, coming in just behind Slough with 268 recorded thefts in the area, narrowly ahead of G11 in Aldershot with 263.

Birmingham, Milton Keynes, Stockport, Darlington, another Slough postcode and Ormskirk complete the top 10.

It is also claimed the most stolen vehicle in the Swindon area is the Range Rover Evoque or Land Rover Discovery
