THE Swindon Soroptimists delivered toys, bedding and bric-a-brac to a charity shop.

Club members and friends from other groups like Ladies Who Latte, Live Laugh Love and Nordic Walking donated things the Survivor shop could sell to raise money for the Swindon Domestic Abuse Support Service.

Soroptimist members Jackie Webb and Lydia Cardew delivered the goods to shop manager Carol Gibbon after a successful Facebook campaign calling for donations.

Lydia said: "We made a reasonable delivery in August but this time, our friends have astounded us with their generosity and we filled half a cage. Carol thanked us and then precariously wheeled the cage back to the shop."

Nicky Alberry, chair of Swindon Domestic Abuse Support Service, said “We are extremely grateful to Lydia Cardew and all the Swindon Soroptimists for their ongoing support.

"They regularly collect donations from their friends and families which go on sale in our charity shop Survivor.

"The funds that we raise through our shop, which is run entirely by volunteers, are vital to our charity and enable us to provide support to more victims and their families in the run up to Christmas.”
