A SWINDON Hindu group runs weekly sessions to help children and young people's development.

The workshops held by Swindon Balagokulam include games, arts and crafts, stories, songs, skits, and charitable activities like food donations, blood donation drives, and fundraisers.

The chapter of Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh UK donated around 2,000 kilograms of tinned food items to Swindon Food Collective.

To celebrate UK Parliament Week, they invited special guests including South Swindon MP Robert Buckland and councillors Rahul Tarar, Sudha Sri, Vijay Manro, Prakash Khaitan, Sumon Roy and Nandini Singh to their venue.

The event started with flag hoisting then the children and parents enjoyed games which the guests joined. The youngsters then got the chance to put their views to the politicians about whether schools should close again as Covid cases and deaths increase.

The children enthusiastically shared their views for and against, then voted in a ballot box and heard words of experience and encouragement about the democratic process and the need for more positive engagement.
