A DRIVER says he suffered severe whiplash and nerve damage to his shoulder after being hit by a van while stationary in his BMW in a McDonald’s car park.

Ryan Muggleton, 28, was sitting in his car at the Orbital Shopping Park on November 9 when it was hit. He says the other driver left the scene before they could exchange details.

He says the force of the crash was so strong that his car has been written off and he is still experiencing pain from his injuries.

He initially thought he hadn’t sustained any injuries but within a few hours, pain and numbness developed in his shoulders and arms.

After speaking to 101 and a doctor, he was referred to hospital.

Ryan’s car is badly damaged from the crash and the airbag light has come on from the impact.

He said: “The nerve damage will improve eventually but I’m in a lot of pain at the moment. I’ve been put on a lot of tablets like co-codamol and naproxen.

“I’m trying to recover from the injuries. It’s not pleasant. The tablets are helping but as soon as they wear off the pain is horrendous at times.

“I was told at the hospital I had nerve damage and that it could take three to six months to get back to normal.

“I’m dealing with something else personal at the moment so I’ve got a lot of anxiety and stress about that.

“This is just another thing to worry about. What’s going to be the third thing? It’s just unpleasant.”

Ryan is also frustrated about the state of his car.

He added: “It has set me back with my normal routine because I use the car for everything.

“It’s been written off because of the age of the car.

"Repairing the damage would cost more than replacing it.”

Wiltshire Police is looking into the incident.

A spokesperson said: “We have received a report of a collision on November 9 and we are carrying out enquiries. Anyone with information is asked to call 101 and quote crime reference 54210109461.”
