A RAILWAY passenger ended up paying £474.60 in fines and fees after trying to travel without a valid ticket.
Kieran Knight, of Dulverton Avenue, failed to hand over a ticket for inspection and verification of validity when asked to do so by an authority figure in Reading on July 9.
The charge was proved in the 29-year-old's absence at Reading Magistrates Court on Friday.
The court fined him £220 and ordered him to pay £40.60 in compensation plus £180 in court costs and £34 to victim services.
