A pair of part-time archaeologists from Swindon who made a once-in-a-lifetime ‘mammoth’ find will be starring alongside Sir David Attenborough in a BBC documentary over the festive season.
Attenborough and the Mammoth Graveyard will see the nation's most famous naturalist covering the story of Moredon couple Neville and Sally Hollingworth’s discovery of mammoth fossils in a quarry near Swindon.
The find was deemed scientifically significant because, alongside skeletons of the great beasts, Sally found a hand-axe that appeared to be hundreds of thousands of years old, offering a potential rare glimpse into life in Britain during the ice age.
The show will air as part of the BBC’s Christmas and New Year programming on Thursday December 30 at 8.00pm.
