One year ago today, the first Covid vaccination was given in Swindon at Great Western Hospital to a frontline worker.

It was one year ago tomorrow that a member of the public received the vaccine.

Since then, 352,000 jabs have been administered to people in Swindon and this anniversary was marked by GWH.

Occupational health nurse Amanda Wheeler Pollitt administered both of these milestone vaccines.

She said: "This was a monumental milestone for the NHS in its battle against Covid.

"It's been a really joined-up approach, with staff from occupational health, pharmacy and HR all coming together to respond so quickly and efficiently to the announcement that the vaccination was ready to be rolled out.

"We set up the vaccination clinic promptly and, at our busiest period, we were vaccinating over 400 people a day.

"It's incredible that we were one of the very first places in the world to have been leading the way with such a pivotal moment in history.

"It's not always been easy, and we have faced some challenges posed by those who are unsure about getting the vaccine.

"We've been supporting those that are hesitant, and have had lots of conversations about the safety and efficacy of the vaccine.

"Thank you to everyone who has received the vaccine over the last year."
