A Cricklade property has been shut down after six months of drugs activity and anti-social behaviour.

Police have received numerous calls about issues at an address in Lady Mead.

A closure order was granted by Swindon Magistrates' Court today and will be in place for three months.

It meansonly the occupants of the address, Wiltshire Council and the emergency services are allowed to enter the property. Anyone else will be committing an offence and may be arrested.

PC Jo Phelps, from the Cricklade Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Since June of this year our officers have been called out on numerous occasions to this property and we are aware that the local community have been frustrated and upset by the ongoing issues associated there.

“Many of them have reported to us that they feel frightened and intimidated by the drugs activity, loud noise, anti-social behaviour and a constant stream of visitors at all times of day and night.

“While we will continue to investigate any criminal allegations, this closure order allows us to try to manage the situation at the property and gives us the additional police powers to arrest those who breach this order.

“We will continue to work closely with the local community and partner agencies, to take action and show that this sort of behaviour will not be tolerated.”
