A CORONAVIRUS outbreak at Swindon Town Footballl Club has forced this weekend's match against Walsall to be postponed.

The club confirmed earlier today that the EFL Sky Bet League Two fixture is delayed and Ben Garner's team will no longer be welcoming Matty Taylor and his Saddlers to the County Ground on Saturday.

The Reds recorded a number of positive PCR tests after Covid hit them at the training ground earlier this week, so most of the playing squad are now self-isolating for the foreseeable future to help minimise the risk of further infection.

Those individuals who have tested positive are now self-isolating in line with government guidelines.

A club spokesman said: "Given the number of positive tests confirmed and with the health and safety of the entire club the main priority, we have asked for Saturday's game against Walsall to be postponed.

"We regret the inconvenience caused to Walsall and both sets of fans, and we wish those who have tested positive a speedy recovery.

"We will announce a new date for this fixture in due course. Your tickets will be valid for the re-arranged fixture.

"We will confirm the position in respect of refunds once a re-arranged date has been agreed."
