A TEENAGER must attend a youth offender panel after being caught with a machete in Chippenham.
The 16-year-old, who cannot be identified because he is under 18, had the offensive weapon in the town on December 12.
Appearing before Swindon Youth Court on January 4, he pleaded guilty and was ordered to appear before a youth offender panel where a six-month contract will be made.
He must also pay a victim surcharge of £22, whilst the machete was forfeited and will be destroyed.
No order for costs was made.
A youth offender panel is a group of members of the community that challenge young people who commit crimes to take responsibility for their actions.
According to the government, referral orders can include reparation or restitution to the victim, as well as undertaking interventions and activities to address the person's offending behaviour.
