Central: Prior approval application has been submitted for the building of a further three storeys to provide an additional nine flats on Commercial Road.

The description of the proposed works, impacts and risks says: “External features of the property match the original building on the front elevation the bays are the same style and proportions as the existing, all the windows align up on the elevations and the roof is the exact replica as the existing.

“The existing property foundations are adequate to support additional storeys which is intended to be built using timber framed construction brick clad externally which will make the structure light weight and constructed quickly compared to traditional construction. The external facade will be facing brick to match existing”.

There are no windows proposed to overlook other buildings, as the building is situated on a main street.

Central Swindon South: Further details have been provided of plans to change Kingshill House on Kent Road into a funeral director's.

These include specifications on electric vehicle charging points, and full details on staircase elevations.

The grade II listed building was Swindon’s first ever maternity home, but is now set to be the new base for Hillier Funeral Service.

The family owned local company has been based on Victoria Road for 24 years but will be moving into Kingshill House this summer.

The only major work is on an extension to the building which will be converted into a mortuary.

There are plans for two chapels of rest, a kitchen for functions, and even a room for small services to take place.

Covingham And Dorcan: An Outline Planning Application has been submitted for a120-bed hotel with function facilities and restaurant with stand alone restaurant and associated car parking.

If approved it will be build at Area 29, Faraday Road, Dorcan.

No other details surrounding the plans have been included, but the Lead Local Flood Authority has called for the application to be refused, because “No surface water management strategy has been submitted and therefore the application is not in-line with current guidance and policy”.

It concludes: “The proposals do not conform to current National Planning Policy, Local Planning Policy, or best practice design guidance.”

St Margaret And South Marston: A discharge of a condition of a previously approved planning application is being sought by Hallam, Hannick and Taylor Wimpey.

The New Eastern Villages will consist of 8,000 homes, new schools, employment spaces and community and leisure facilities.

It will be located to the east of the A419 and is estimated to span 724 hectares, with its eastern boundary reaching the point at which the River Cole meets the A420.

Condition 8 states that prior to the submission of the first reserved matters a strategic design code shall have been submitted to and approved in writing by the local planning authority.
