Drakes Way remains closed in both directions and is likely to remain closed for the rest of the morning rush hour while collision investigators carry out enquiries.
The road is closed between Greenbridge roundabout and the roundabout with Queens Drive.
This includes access from Marlowe Avenue, Ocotal Way and Penny Lane.
A police spokesman said: "Our thoughts are with [the pedestrian]'s family at this difficult time.
"We’d like to hear from any witnesses to the collision who have not already spoken to police, as well as anyone who may have CCTV or dash cam footage in the area of Greenbridge and Drakes Way which may be relevant to our enquiries.
"Call 101 and quote log number 313 of January 31."
