A family is desperate for the safe return of one of their cats after it went missing on the same day its sister was killed by a car.

Retired nurse and self-confessed animal lover Ann Jones, 67,  lost both of her Bengal cats, Fleur and Finn, in the Queensfield area between Penhill and Kingsdown on February 7.

"We had a knock on the door and it was someone telling us they'd found Fleur," said Ann.

"Whoever had hit and killed her didn't stop and so she was found on the rat-run in Queensfield by a woman and her child who tried calling the number on the collar, but we missed the call, so they came to the house.

"It was terrible news. Immediately you start blaming yourself, thinking 'I shouldn't have let them out'."

Ann later realised that her other cat Finn, also a year-and-a-half-old, had not come home.

"I got worried straight away because it felt like something was wrong, and then more worried as time went on."

Finn as been missing since then.

"I'm heartbroken," she said. "It's bad enough to have lost one cat, but the thought of losing another is horrible. I can’t stop thinking about why has he gone missing on the same day.

"We’re distraught because it’s constantly on my mind, it's on my mind all the time."

Ann's daughter Katie Jones, 30, said: “Our cats are family to us and each one has a unique personality. Fleur was a sensitive cat who I had a particularly special bond with, she would chat away to me and greet me when I would get home.

"As a family we are truly heartbroken to lose Fleur in the way that we did and are still coming to terms with our loss. Unfortunately our grief has been overshadowed by Finn's disappearance

"We have done everything we can to locate him but as yet we are still hoping he will return to us. Losing any pet is always a difficult time but to lose two on the same night has made this extremely upsetting.

"Not knowing what’s happened to Finn is almost worse than Fleur.

"As extremely upsetting as it is to have lost her, she is home with us whereas Finn we have no idea if he’s been stolen, lost, hurt or worse. We are urging the Swindon community to help us find Finn."

Finn is microchipped.

If you think you've seen Finn, or know where he is, please get in touch via daniel.wood@newsquest.co.uk with your details and the Adver will pass them on to Ann and Katie.
