Comedian Jenny Eclair was in town earlier this month for a show at the Wyvern Theatre, but criticised them for marking up her ticket prices.

Posting onto social media after the show in Swindon on February 13, Eclair praised the 'Really gorgeous enthusiastic-if small crowd'

She added: 'incidentally ( coincidentally) the theatre with the highest mark up on my basic ticket price - sigh - I’m sorry, not my decision.'

Just a few days before Eclair had revealed her shock at the markup price in some theatres.

She wrote: 'I am genuinely shocked by the mark up price some theatres put on my shows, the tickets are priced at £20 plus booking fee, these vary and some are much higher than others, I'm really sorry about this."

Swindon Advertiser:

The Wyvern Theatre has issued a statement responding to Eclair's tweet.

"Ticket prices are agreed with each show’s Producers or Tour Promoters (who work on behalf of the artist) at the time of booking into the venue," a spokesperson for the theatre said

"Looking across Jenny’s tour dates our pricing is similar (within £1-£2) of most venues and the same as several (including venues in Hayes, Southend and Crewe). Our biggest pricing difference would be ticketed for the two boxes which are more expensive but offer a private viewing experience."

Tickets for the comedian at the Wyvern were £24.40. Jenny Eclair has four shows coming up in March that range from £22.40 to £24.40 depending on the venue

The audience for Eclair's show was fairly small, but those in attendance had a great time.

This was something that the Wyvern spokesperson echoed.

"Jenny’s show on Sunday went down really well with Swindon audiences and it's always great to be part of her tour."
