Retired police dogs will benefit from the efforts of New College beauty students who held a massage-a-thon in Swindon.

The college's Level 4 beauty students held the event as part of their course and decided to do as many massages as possible in one day to raise funds for the retired police dog charity WAGS.

The group consisted of Level 4 lecturers Kelly and Steph, curriculum manager Elly, Level 4 therapists Libby and Chanelle, salon director Andrea and students Adriana, Chelsea and Izzy.

Between them, they gave 56 stressed Swindon people massages at the event last week, with four massages being given at the same time, and raised a £766.94 as a result.

Salon director Andrea Jane Hartson hailed the efforts of the students.

"I'm so proud of them, really proud, they worked so hard and did so well," she said.

"They did what they needed to for their course, loads of people got a nice massage and we raised lots of money for charity - everyone wins in that situation."
