The sound of music is set to fill the Town Gardens bandstand and Queen's Park in the coming months thanks to South Swindon Parish Council.

It is putting on a series of free concerts and its first event, a special launch concert from the North Swindon Big Band in the Town Gardens Bowl on May 1 was a huge success.

"Thank you to everyone who came along to the launch of our free outdoor summer concerts this afternoon!" the council said on Facebook after the event.

"The amazing North Swindon Big Band entertained over 200 enthusiastic local residents today, and we’re excited to see everyone back at the Town Gardens and at Queen’s Park for more over the next few months."

Swindon Advertiser:

These concerts follow the success of last year's musical lineup, with the council thrilled that they could bring back the much-loved fixture of their summer events programme.

"The whole community is invited to experience outstanding live music in the open air.  These concerts are completely free, so members of the public can just turn up on the day.  Performances start at 3pm and finish at 4.30pm" the council added.
