THESE incredible images show two RAF C-130J Hercules aircraft flying on a formation sortie across the south west.
The jets took off from RAF Brize Norton on Tuesday and flew at low altitude near RAF Fairford before climbing to 2,000 feet and practising close-formation airdrop procedures.
With the sun setting, the aircraft flew over the Bristol Channel, where pilots from Numbers 47 and 24 Squadron conducted simulated formation airdrop training for operations in support of maritime forces.
The four-engine turboprop aircraft is capable of using unprepared runways for takeoffs and landings, and was originally designed as a troop, medevac, and cargo transport aircraft.
