A 27-year-old man has been charged with murder after a "much-loved" Swindon woman was found stabbed to death in Birmingham yesterday.

Shannon Stanley, 27, suffered multiple stab wounds at a property in Mount Pleasant on Small Heath at 12.30am on Tuesday.

Pablo Hoard was arrested at 1am that morning at an address near the scene and he has now been charged with murder.

He is in police custody and is set to appear at Birmingham Magistrates' Court today.

Shannon, who grew up in Swindon, died at the scene despite the efforts of paramedics.

Her family released a tribute, saying: “Shannon was a much-loved daughter, sister, niece and cousin. She had many friends that also loved her dearly.

“She will be missed by us all and we ask as a family that we are allowed to grieve privately at this sad time.”

A 24-year-old woman was also arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of murder and she has since been released on police bail.

The victim's grieving friends and family have set up a fundraising page to cover the costs of Shannon's funeral.

Tara Elizabeth from Swindon said: "I spent many of my childhood years making the most funniest memories with you.

"If you were ever in need of someone to make you laugh, Shan would be the one you needed. You had a heart so big it could swallow the world and all you ever wanted to be was happy. A proper warrior in life and grateful for everything. I’m so sorry this happened to you.

"Shannon leaves behind her brother who is currently broken beyond words and we have started this to help raise funds for all funeral costs."

A West Midlands Police family liaison officer is supporting Shannon's family.

Police enquires continue and anyone who has information is asked to contact officers through the Live Chat on their website or by calling 101 quoting log 78 of 10 May.
