Motorists are still having to fork out to fill up their vehicles.

The cost-of-living crisis and Russia’s war with Ukraine has exasperated the problem with many families going into fuel poverty.

Back in March, Chancellor Rishi Sunak announced that he would be cutting the fuel duty rate by five pence for the next 12 months.

Fuel duty is an excise duty included in the price that people pay for every litre of fuel pumped into a vehicle.

However, the cut in fuel duty has done little to help motorists.

According to the RAC, the average petrol and diesel prices are 168.2p and 181p.

The bad news keeps coming as the price of fuel is forecast to rise.

Currently, the cheapest place to buy fuel overall in Swindon is the Asda in the western part of the town.

Petrol is currently being charged at 163.7p a litre, whereas diesel is being sold for 174.7p per litre.

The same price is currently on offer for petrol down at the Asda in Thamesdown Drive.

However, the price of diesel is slightly more expensive at 175.7p per litre.

Tesco’s on Ocotal Way is the second cheapest place in Swindon to buy fuel. The service station is currently selling unleaded for 164.9p per litre and diesel for 177.9p a litre.

Petrol is slightly more expensive at the Sainsbury’s in Stratton which is charging 165.9p. However it is charging the same amount for diesel as the Tesco’s on Ocotal Way.

The Sainsbury’s in Bridgemead is also charging the same amount for fuel as the one in Stratton.

Finally, the Texaco down in Queen’s Drive is another service station where fuel is being sold cheaply.

Petrol is currently being priced at 166.9p and diesel at 181.9p

At the other end of the scale, the most expensive place where motorists can buy fuel in Swindon is the Shell fuel station on Rodbourne Road.

The garage is currently selling petrol at 175.9 pence per litre and diesel for 183.9p a litre.
