ROADS police pulled over a driver carrying wood in his car - and were stunned to find it positioned over a newborn baby in the back seat.
Officers stopped the vehicle on Drove Road at around midday on Wednesday after the driver was spotted carrying wood and other large items.
They found some of the items were above the driver’s head and were also above a newborn baby in the back.
The driver was given a £100 fine and slapped with three points on their licence for using a motor vehicle when there is a danger of injury due to position and security of load.
Writing on social media, Wilts Specialist Ops said: “A driver in Swindon has been given a £100 fine and 3 points for using a motor vehicle when there is a Danger of Injury due to Position and Security of load. Even more concerning when it’s over the drivers head and the newborn baby in the back. #12HoursOnWiltshiresRoads.”

Wiltshire Police often stop drivers for carrying dangerous and insecure loads in their vehicles.
Back in March, a pickup truck carrying a fridge and mattress was pulled over by police on the M4 near Swindon.
The driver of the Mitsubishi was rapped by Wiltshire officers after failing to secure the load properly and posing a danger to others on the motorway.
