Witnesses have described their shock after seeing a road rage incident involving a machete unfold in front of them.

The incident happened on Saturday at around 5.30pm in Pinehurst at the junction of the Circle and Beech Avenue by the One Stop store.

Two youths riding a moped and a motorbike got involved in an altercation with passing drivers on the road.

One of them, wearing all black and a motorbike helmet, took out a machete in the fracas and smashed the window of a black Audi before the pair walked away.

Swindon Advertiser:

A video from the incident shows a driver turning onto the junction and see the drama unfold, including the man carrying the dangerous weapon and the damage to the Audi A4.

A witness who saw the incident, but asked not to be named, said he saw one of the pair riding up and down the road by the One Stop shop.

“All of a sudden I see a car come down, there were bikes alongside it. Something then happens and the windscreen gets smashed," he said.

“The guy gets out annoyed, the guy on the bike goes to the end of the road, and then all of his mates join him.

“As soon as I drive off, I see a guy with a machete in his hand.”

He described what his wife felt when she saw the incident unfold.

“My wife was a bit scared at the time, when she saw it she was like drive away, she was a bit unnerved," he said.

“She’s just in shock seeing something like that happen."

Another person from the area condemned the suspect.

He said: “Whoever that nutter is, he’s got to be found and locked up.

“You can’t go round the streets wielding knives, the guys in the car, they stood their ground.

“But somebody of a less strong character, it’s very traumatising.”
