Residents in Haydon Wick gathered in their droves as they celebrated the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

A special event was held at the King George V playing fields, where there was face painting and other fun things for families to enjoy.

The highlight of the event came at lunchtime when an RAF Lancaster Bomber conducted a fly-past over the event, a true British icon.

Speaking during the event, Vinjay Manro the Chairman of Haydon Wick Parish Council, said: “It’s great to see such a wide range of people from the youngest in our community to the oldest out enjoying themselves, talking about their experiences and learning new experiences.

“I’m grateful to everyone who has organised it and everyone who has attended.”

Parish Clerk Georgina Morgan-Dean added: “We are very impressed with the numbers that have turned up, we’ve really brought the Haydom Wick community together.

“From a council point of view, we are really proud of what we’ve achieved.”

Ms Morgan-Dean said she was amazed by just how people had turned up for the event.

“I’ve never seen so many people come through the door at the dawn of us happening, it was quite humbling actually wanted to come and spend this day with us.

“This is historic, I feel very blessed and privileged, everywhere across the country is doing her proud and Haydon Wick is no different.”
