A STRATTON teen has admitted threatening a woman with a machete in a Swindon park.

Conner Rayner used the bladed article to “unlawfully and intentionally threaten” the woman in Meadowcroft Park on September 13, last year.

Swindon Crown Court heard that “there was an immediate risk of serious physical harm to” the victim.

Appearing at the court on May 27, Rayner, of Ruskin Avenue, pleaded guilty to one count of threatening a person with a bladed article.

His barrister, Sam Arif, asked for an eight-week adjournment for a psychological report.

“Mr Rayner suffers with, or has been diagnosed with, ADHD, Asperger’s and psychosis.

“He’s not currently in work, he has some very good social ideas about assisting people from vulnerable or poorer backgrounds. He is in the process of preparing a business plan to give out to some local Swindon businessmen to assist him in setting up a business.

“He’s done a similar thing in the past,” she continued, where people donated bikes.

But Judge Jason Taylor QC rebutted: “If he’s able to do all of that, he functions really well.”

He ordered to report and adjourned the case until July 29. He gave the 19-year-old “no promises” as to the eventual sentence.
