A Swindon fire station is holding its open day in more than three years this weekend.

The event at Stratton Fire Station will take place on Sunday (June 26) between 10am and 3pm.

A spokesperson from Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue said: "We are delighted to be able to welcome our community back onto the fire station and would like to invite everyone to come along and spend some time to meet our firefighters, have a look around the station, fire appliances and give us the opportunity to offer you some home, fire and road safety advice".

There will be demonstrations by firefighters and the Swindon Fire Cadets, vintage vehicles, free bike marking and registration with Swindon Travel Choices.

Visitors will also be able to see a vintage police car and the police dog with a handler, the British Red Cross van and Biker Down.

There will be a barbecue, refreshments, a raffle, gift, tombola and a local amateur artists stall as well as a bouncy castle, face painting, a children's dressing-up and activity corner and the obligatory squirting water.

All visitors are being invited to bring a bag of clothing jumble for the Firefighter's Charity collection and all monies raised will be put towards funding a SPECTRA experience day for young adults with a learning disability.
