A SUCCESSFUL Swindon sales team spent £250k transforming a local landmark into its new showroom.

TWC hopes to become the go-to destination for home improvements after setting up shop inside the old George White building on Elgin Industrial Estate.

The glassy 5,000sq ft structure stands proudly behind the Elgin Drive roundabout and is now full of a wide range of doors, windows and living spaces customers can browse or buy with a 20-year guarantee.

TWC's smaller base in South Marston will now be used as a warehouse and installation office.

The pandemic saw sales increase as people stuck at home decided to make a few changes, but it also caused supply chain issues which delayed the showroom’s completion.

Director Joseph Heaton hopes the new location will cement the business as a Swindon mainstay.

He said: “It’s all about never standing still and always looking for the next best thing for us to do.

“Until today, we weren’t able to showcase our full range, with some products no-one else has, so this gives us additional space to be more creative.

“I’d like to thank our manufacturers and suppliers, who are at the forefront of what’s new on the market.”

TWC became part of the Conservatory Outlet in 2018 and provides high quality products fitted by its own in-house team of experts.

Managing director Andy Hill is from Swindon and used to canvas for another window company before starting this business and recruiting window salesman Joe to help him get it off the ground.

Since then, they have grown from one fitting team to 12 and now oversee the biggest window and door showcase in the south west.

Andy said: “There’s nowhere else in Swindon like this. We want to maximise what customers can feel and see for themselves.

"It gives people ideas, so even if they don’t want anything now, they might want something later and think of us.”

Swindon Town legend Don Rogers cut the ribbon at the official opening on Friday, which raised money for Prospect Hospice.

He said: “It’s a brilliant place in a perfect spot and has been very nicely done. I will definitely come and have a look around with my wife in the future.

“I’m happy to come and help out with local things like this. You have to support Swindon businesses.”

The showroom includes more than 20 secure and stylish doors along with clear or obscured-glass UPVC and aluminium windows, and home extensions like traditional conservatories, home offices, dining areas and bars with various types of roofs and partitions.

There are iPads and screens to visualise what they will look like at home and allow visitors to create their own doors.

Conservatory Outlet CEO Greg Kane added: “It has been fantastic to see the growth of TWC and the ambition the business has to become the biggest and best home improvement specialist in the south west."
