A man in Wiltshire was charged with stealing wine and 'recklessly' damaging the front doors of the Tesco Extra in Devizes.

Richard Thomas Andrew, of no fixed abode, stole four bottles of wine to the value of £26 from the Tesco Extra on January 19.

The same day, the 35-year-old also damaged the front doors of Tesco Extra, "with the intention to destroy or damage such property or being reckless as to whether such property would be destroyed or damaged".

Andrew faced South East Wiltshire Magistrates' Court on May 16 where he was charged with theft from the shop and criminal damage to property valued under £5000.

He was convicted of both charges after also pleading guilty to both charges.

Andrew was made to pay £26 in compensation for the theft from the shop. This was to be paid by June, 13, and a collection order was also made.
