McDonald’s is undoubtedly one of the most recognisable high street fast food chains, normally a bustling hubbub of those looking for a cheap and cheerful meal.

But as recent court hearings have been told, occasionally not everyone is ‘lovin’ it’.

A number of cases have been heard before the courts in recent months involving incidents in and around Wiltshire branches of McDonald’s – or what Wiltshire people have got up to at restaurants out of patch.

We have scoured through the court records and our previous stories to show you who has been hauled before the justices for behaving badly in and around McDonald’s.

Three fined for dropping cigarettes

A man was fined hundreds of pounds after he dropped a cigarette.

Devizes man Charlie Peirson was outside McDonald’s in The Horsefair, Bristol on May 29, 2021, when he dropped a cigarette and left it there.

The 22-year-old was charged with one count of throw down, leave or otherwise deposit litter, a crime under the Environmental Protection Act 1990.

Peirson, of Franklyn Road, was convicted via the single justice procedure and fined £220.

He must also pay costs of £50 and a £34 victim surcharge.

Meanwhile, a Chippenham woman was fined for the same offence in the same location.

Emily Smith dropped a cigarette outside McDonald’s on November 16, 2021.

The 32-year-old, of Easton Lane, was fined £220, ordered to pay costs of £150, and a £34 victim surcharge.

A Chippenham man met a similar fate after dropping a cigarette outside McDonald’s in The Horsefair.

Joe Smith, of Heathfield, was convicted of littering on August 2, 2021 via the single justice procedure.

He must pay a £220 fine, costs of £150 and a £34 victim surcharge.

Teen damaged McDonald’s sign

A teenager has admitted damaging a sign at McDonald’s on New Year’s Eve and engaging in a “hate crime”.

The 15-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, damaged the sign to a value under £5,000 on New Year’s Eve 2021.

She pleaded guilty to one count of criminal damage, as well as a section 4a public order offence – using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

The girl was referred to the Swindon Youth Offender Panel, where a 4-month contract will be drawn up.

It would have been one month, but the court increased this to four due to it being a “hate crime”, court records show.

She must also pay a £22 victim surcharge.

Drink driver banned

A man caught drink driving outside a Wiltshire branch of McDonald’s has been banned from driving.

70-year-old David Angelo Rigiani was driving an Audi A4 outside McDonald’s at Solstice Park, Amesbury on April 11 whilst over the drink-drive limit.

He had 59 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, more than the limit of 35.

Rigiani, of Flitcroft, Amesbury, was fined £120 and banned from driving for 14 months.

He must also pay £85 prosecution costs and a £34 victim surcharge.

The case was proved at West Hampshire Magistrates’ Court in a prosecution brought by Test Valley Borough Council, and she was fined £150.

Parsons, of Ramleaze Drive, Salisbury, was also told to pay court costs of £100 and a victim surcharge of £34.
