Hundreds of visitors took part in Lacock’s annual scarecrow hunt last weekend, with this year’s theme “around the world in 50 scarecrows”.

Families enjoyed a lovely day out, where they were tasked with naming famous landmarks from around the world.

Several businesses from Wiltshire, such as Whitehall Garden Centre and Watlings Goldsmiths, presented prizes for a range of categories.

The annual fundraiser also included fun inflatables, a variety of refreshments, cake stalls and a BBQ.

The event was organised by the Friends of Lacock CofE Primary School, with all money raised donated to Lacock Primary School and other village groups.

Charlotte Johnson, Chair of the Friends of Lacock School, said: "£500 was raised which goes directly to Lacock Primary School and allows the provision of extra learning resources, IT equipment, renovations, school trips and fun activities for the pupils.

"Thank you to everyone who visited the Friends of Lacock School Scarecrow Trail this year. There were hundreds of visitors to the village each day over the weekend.

"It was lovely to see all age groups enjoying the scarecrow trail and we look forward to planning next year's event.

"The Friends of Lacock School would like to thank Lacock Abbey National Trust for supporting us in this regard.

"The Scarecrow Trail is organised by the Friends of Lacock School but it really is a wonderful community event.

"The scarecrows are made by parents, pupils, teachers, St Cyriacs Church, Lacock residents and Lacock businesses. We would like to thank the residents, businesses and Parish Council for their continuing support."

"The response from the public was fantastic, reports are some of the scarecrows were a little bit trickier this year but this seemed to add even more enjoyment to the trail.

"We would like to thank the visitors for spending their weekend with us and supporting such a wonderful school. We look forward to 2023."
