A COLOURFUL garden of reflection has been created in part of Coate Water which used to have a play park.

Work on a new and more accessible play area is due to start in September, so the empty space has been spruced up to soothe visitors and provide a place for them to immerse themselves in nature.

It will help pollinate flowers, can improve people's wellbeing, and teach children about wildflower meadows and wildlife.

A lavender bank has been planted behind the seating area, while the view across the lake away from the busier parts of the park will allow people to relax and take some time out.

Coun Matty Courtliff said: “The new Coate Water garden is a fantastic addition to the park and a great place for people to unwind.

“The grounds team, led by Martin Mansfield, have done an incredible job to create this beautiful space and I am sure it will become a popular haven for people of all ages.

"We want to encourage more people to visit our country parks and our programme of investment in our parks will ensure they are enjoyed and treasured by local people for many more years to come.”
