SWINDON is enjoying summery sunny skies - and next week could be a real scorcher.

The Met Office has forecast nothing but sunshine every day through to next Friday and temperatures could creep up to above 30 degrees Celsius.

UV levels are expected to be high or very high over the next six days as cloud cover is not forecast at all.

Sunday will see temperatures range from 13C to 25C, with a similar range expected on Monday and Tuesday but with a slightly higher maximum of 26C and 28C respectively.

The mercury should rise further on Wednesday, with another degree bump to the minimum and maximum temperatures (14C/29C).

Thursday will turn Swindon tropical with spells of 30C heat dipping to 16C in the evening.

Friday, which is the furthest available forecast for now, could be hotter still, between 18C and 31C.

Met Office chief forecaster Steve Willington said: “We could see parts of the UK entering heatwave conditions if the above-average temperatures last for three days or more.

"Many areas of the UK, especially the south will witness temperatures several degrees higher than average, but these values are likely to be well below the record-breaking temperatures we saw in mid-July.

“As the high pressure builds there is very little meaningful rain in the forecast, especially in those areas in the south of England, which experienced very dry conditions last month."
