Levelling up boasts

A report over the weekend said that The Tory leadership contender Rishi Sunak, boasted to grassroots Tory loyalists in Tunbridge Wells, Kent that he diverted funding from "deprived areas " towards more affluent areas.

Is this the true meaning of levelling up, which the Tories have every day bragged about for how many months?

Yet again another example of the wicked Tories taking from the poorest in society and give to the more well off.

It doesn't matter who takes over as PM they will always be known as the "Nasty Party " when will the " Working Class " in this country wake up to the fact that the Tories lie to us to get our vote?

Tax cuts a bribe in race to the bottom

I wonder how many people, like myself, find this race to the bottom being perpetrated by the contenders for the top job nauseating?

To sweeten their pills, both are trying to bribe the electorate with the promise of tax cuts, now or in the future. What ever happened to vision, compassion and decency?

It is impossible for me, as an ordinary citizen, to reverse the cuts that the Tories have inflicted on our society, no matter how I try.

There will always be a reduction in the number of police, ambulances will always take too long to get to the sick and to cap it all, my local hospital is in dire straits.

Now the around 300 Tory party members who live in the same constituency as myself, Swindon South, will get a vote that affects me and the other well over 30 million voters in the country.

I am content to pay my fair share of taxes to live in a compassionate, forward looking, honest society.

Unfortunately, the two candidates seem hell bent on appealing to the baser of our instincts: money. For them and many top Tories, it is all about staying in power.

In his acceptance speech, one contestant ‘s main plank was….. ‘to defeat the Labour Party’, not the solutions that are needed to stop the country sliding into recession, combating climate change or the national embarrassment of the massive number of food banks or the inability of many people to visit a dentist are well down the pecking order.

We may all come to rue their lack of empathy and vision.

Why no street lights?

Oxford road looks a lot better. But when it comes to night driving it’s very dangerous no street lighting why? Very annoying going out late night.
