Romance is blooming in the gardens at Stockcross House, which opens to the public under the National Garden Scheme later this month.
The two-acre plot near Newbury, wraps around the Grade II listed former rectory is designed to give different vistas of St John's Church tower.
It has been developed over the past three decades with deep mixed borders, and orangery, a variety of trees, shrubs and perennials and a small fernery with a gate designed by contemporary blacksmith Melissa Cole. And there's a croquet lawn with a rose-clad wall and pavilion.
It opens on August 28 between noon and 5pm. Admission costs £5 for adults, children go free. Visit ngs.org.uk for details
