Swindon's Eurovision dream is over after the shortlisted locations for next year's song contest were announced.
The official Eurovision website listed the town as one of the places vying to host the contest last month. Great Britain will put on the 2023 show in place of this year's winners Ukraine.
This moved Swindon Borough Council to deny the speculation, leading to much mirth and disbelief from residents, but the council has now reacted to the shortlisting.
We're as disappointed as you are!😉

...but we wish all the shortlisted cities good luck & we can't wait to enjoy the party.🥳 https://t.co/0o9sskuU7S
Glasgow, Manchester, Newcastle, Liverpool, Leeds, Birmingham and Sheffield are the final cities in the running.
