A popular village and country show took place in Wanborough with a helping hand from local housebuilder Bellway.

The housebuilder gave £500 to the organisers of Wanborough Village and Country Show, which helped to fund a climbing wall for children to tackle during the event in Church Meadow on Saturday, August 20.

This year’s show, which marked the 90th year of the event, also featured a dog show and a Pedal Power vs Parkour race, which is thought to be the only display of its kind in the UK.

Sue Ripley, show chairman, said: “Given the not-for-profit nature of the show, the generosity of sponsors such as Bellway is essential for the continued success of the Wanborough Show and allows us to keep putting on this much-loved local event.”

Rachel Way, Sales Manager for Bellway South West, said: "We are pleased to have played our part in helping to bring the community in the village together."

Bellway is planning to build new homes at Redlands Grove, off Wanborough Road, just over a mile to the north of the village.
