A BUSY main road which links West Swindon to the town centre has been closed by Thames Water.

A large section of Tewkesbury Way has been fenced off while the utilities company carries out repair work on a leak.

A large digger can be seen in the middle of the road, with piles of uncovered dirt and rubble nearby.

The Swindon Borough Council website notes that the work started on August 28 at around 10.30am and is expected to finish soon.

A Thames Water spokeswoman said the road should be reinstated and reopened later today.
