SOUTH Swindon MP Anne Snelgrove is trying to find a solution to parking problems around Nationwide's Swindon HQ. The Adver reported that areas around the bottom of Croft Road were being swamped by workers looking for a space to park.
Residents said the extra cars were causing problems for them and could restrict emergency services' access to their streets.
Swindon Council had supplied 100 extra parking spaces at its nearby Wroughton park and ride site. But it was unclear if that would resolve the issue.
Anne Snelgrove, MP for South Swindon, said: "I will be meeting council officers to discuss the parking problem," she said. "I have also spoken to Councillor Mike Bawden about the situation.
"And I have already contacted Nationwide on this.
"But the key is the Highways Agency and I have requested an urgent meeting.
"Residents should not have to put up with this misery and Nationwide workers should have somewhere decent to park.
"Nationwide has a travel-to- work plan which includes car-sharing, cycling and public transport but with an expanding workforce there is a need for more parking on site.
"Moving towards that will be my main effort over the next week."
